Future Women Leaders in Neurosurgery Scholarship

The CNS Foundation annually awards multiple scholarships to female neurosurgeons early in their medical career so they may attend enriching leadership opportunities of their choice.

WINS Leadership Development Award

The WINS Leadership Development Award, established in 2014, recognizes a WINS member who has been in neurosurgical practice for less than 10 years and demonstrates excellence in scholarship, research, clinical practice, mentoring and leadership. The goal is to help advance women leaders in neurosurgery. The annual awardee is recognized during the plenary session at the AANS Annual Scientific Meeting.

The Sherry Apple Resident Travel Scholarship

The Sherry Apple Resident Travel Scholarship is granted annually to an outstanding resident abstract accepted at the CNS Annual Meeting.

Louise Eisenhardt Resident Travel Scholarship

The Louise Eisenhardt Resident Travel Scholarship is granted yearly to an outstanding resident abstract accepted at the AANS Annual Meeting.

WINS VISA Award

WINS/Greg Wilkins-Barrick Chair Visiting International Surgeon Awardees

WINS, CNS Foundation, & Mission:BRAIN Foundation

Women in Neurosurgery (WINS), CNS Foundation, and Mission:BRAIN Foundation scholarship to support neurosurgery senior residents or junior faculty to perform an observership in the US.

WINS International Leadership Award
Shelly D. Timmons Leadership Award

The Shelly D. Timmons Leadership Award supports leadership development for early career neurosurgeons by providing a one-time fellowship in developing leadership skills. The awardee will have mentoring and shadowing opportunities with past and current WINS leaders at an AANS or other meeting. Additional mentors may be included on mutual agreement to tailor the experience to the awardee’s goals.

Veena D. Mummaneni Award

To fund an Award for outstanding woman resident or fellow to present a top rated abstract at the AANS Annual Scientific Meeting.

Karin M. Muraszko Award

The Karin M. Muraszko Mentorship Award helps develop leaders in neurosurgery by providing mentoring and didactic education. The awardee will have the opportunity for networking and mentorship with leaders and members of WINS during exclusive events held at the AANS Annual Scientific Meeting.
